William Burroughs expanded

"We are like water creatures looking up at the land and air and wondering how we can survive in that alien medium. The water we live in is Time. That alien medium we glimpse beyond time is Space. And that is where we are going.” - William Burroughs

We are like water creatures looking up at the land and air and wondering how we can survive in that alien medium. The water we live in is Time. The time we live in is our very cage. That alien medium we glimpse beyond time is Space. Infinite space. And that is where we are going. Where we will bloom. We are destined to bloom.

Guernica

There is a sense of utter urgency, panic and fright depicted through this painting. I can see the pain in the eyes of the men and the beasts as they scramble together for something. They seem tortured by something, by war.

Nirvana "lithium"

To me this song is yet another one of Nirvanas masterpieces. Kurt is so clever with his words in this song so as to leave us all with rather uncertain conclusions on just what exactly he might of been talking about. I get a very apathetic almost delusional mood from this song, it sounds like hes going mentally numb and is completely aware of it and just doesnt care.

Nirvana-"Come as you are"

This is such a great song by Nirvana. The lyrics could hold many meanings but my feeble-mind came to this possible solution. To me i feel like Kurt is in a sense, calling out a former-self or a long passed memory to face destruction or even maybe a friend/enemy. He is lying and decieving when he is saying he doesnt have a gun so as to hid his true intentions of murdering this "memoria".

Arizona Immigration Law

Dumb idea. The economic loss due to removal of illegal immigrants will be extremely costly for any state adopting this law. And it seems most people for the law are ONLY for it for there own personal gain, racist desires or revenge. Im getting sick of hearing people bitch about illegal immigrants taking there jobs, if an illegal immigrant can even aquire your job then you must have a shitty job to begin with cause Illegal immigrants usually do the jobs nobody else wants to do anyways. I mean seriously, if your competing with people that dont even legally live here then you need to get your own life in check before you even think about Immigration laws. I think Racial profiling is a bit messed up but come on, some people just look suspicious and statistically the chances of a hispanic person being illegal is higher than say an asian or black person. We need to develop a way to possibly legalize certain illegal immigrants that are here to try to make as honest a life they can and also so they can be tracked and watched just like all american citizens. We also need to develop a way to effectively remove certain illegal immigrants that dont deserve to be here due to criminal behaviour though.

Anthony Robbins On Perspectives

“To effectively communicate, we must realize that we are all different in the way we perceive the world and use this understanding as a guide to our communication with others.” Anthony Robbins

Indeed we are all different in the way we percieve the world, if not the individualism of man would prove to have been a myth. Every person views things slightly or vastly differently, there are memories and emotions that are invoked by the sight of objects that cannot be replicated or experienced by anyone else. The chance of me and you percieving the exact same thought when the word "knife" is spoken is virtually impossible, we both just have slightly different perceptions. With this knowledge we can begin to understand a lot about how we communicate and interact.

4/13

I share the desire to have purpose in my life.
I share the desire to fullfil what i feel is right.
I share the desire to resolve issues with enemies of mine.

My deepest desire in life is simply to be happy and content. My current view of what that is would be to become an influential and successful musician and be able to provide for myself and do nothing but play music and to continue to hold on to the girl of my dreams, Lorelei.
I feel like the general theme of this desire is extremely popular, everybody wants to be happy. Whether money gets the job done or fame or women it doesnt matter. We all just want to be happy.

Healthcare

I think this whole health care reform could possibly lead to better things for health care and we should probably just go ahead with the reform and see what happens. Increasing to having 95% of legal residents under 65 covered by health insurance doesnt sound too bad to me. Forcing insurers to spend at least 80% on actual medical care would make my day a bit better too. Sure it will be expensive but at least its for a potentially better healthcare system instead of yet another Ignorant war between humans, so before you even bitch about total cost go tell Uncle Sam to quit killing his relatives across the world. Also, honestly i dont know why "There will be a tax increase on very high income people" is considered a con on Squashed's list. What is bad about forcing those who help others anyways and those who step on the backs of others, to help others. The wealthy people that arent greedy should already understand that their 500,000$ house is enough to get by and its beneficial to the American people to be taxed higher. And the greedy people well, they burn in hell so its okay.

Creative Writing

prompt 162

smoke fills this faithful blue sky
moving side to side
with a promise of its own

to unleash upon thee
where we still discover fate
at the border of reality

Weak fear in my eyes
is this the end
of a culture of solitude

"Blog rock has no political edge"

My opinion on the kind of message being portrayed in todays music is simply, that its fine. Why would anyone even begin to complain about what artists are saying? The best part of being a artist is being able to freely express your mind in any way that suits you and being able to ignore people like Mr. Ben who disagree with what you're doing. If you dont like the way music is going or whatever then just listen to older music you like. But either way, there is still plenty of political messages in songs today and there always will be political messages in songs. Maybe these new happier messages in songs are a form of escape from our very troubled world. What if some of these musicians want to make listeners feel good and inspire they're imagination's rather than just fill them with directed anger on issues alot of them dont even really know the first thing about anyways? Dont get me wrong though, i do feel like music should always
reserve a place for political issues because many people might not hear of these issues any other way. The overall point is to just let go and let the music lead the way.

mastodon - oblivion

To me this song has several meanings, but i also see a story. A story of a person who has pushed it just too far, who has gone out on there last limb searching for an answer, a solution or whatever it may be they want or need but in the end the failed and are now tormented by that fact. The lyrics "Flew beyond the sun before it was time" to me, is much like the story of "Icarus" who melted the wax off his wings by flying too close to the sun and fell into the sea. It almost seems like Mastodon took that story and turned it into a metaphor, however you want to interpret that metaphor though, is up to you.

The decemberist's "The Island"

This song is quite a masterpeice. Instrumentally it is great, every member is highlighted equally and brilliantly and every instrument brings something to the table. Something most bands lack a bit in. The lyrics were impressive too, ive always liked concept albums and songs that tell storys. This song has alot to offer to your body and mind.

Aurora Borealis

from the crimson mountain
It reigned light
The ghost of death in life

shining the northern isles
lost in denial of the sure
Beware the fire in the sky

opening up its heart
ancient bloodshot eyes
unchained beastly brute

our soul burn
our soul burn

prompt #60

In elementary school i convinced 2 kids that i was born in a cave on a mountainside because my parents were abandoned there after a plane crash that killed all but them and they decided to try to live there and have a child, me. I told them that my dad would hunt mountain lions and big horn sheep with a spear and collect fresh water from the local mountain spring and even occasionally have to fight off wolves and bears. While my dad kept food in our stomachs my mom raised me, until i was 5 and began to help my dad hunt for food. We strived on the mountaintops, until one day we encountered a group that was searching for remains of the once thought "disappeared" plane, my parents told them they were on the plane and had survived. The searchers were so shocked we could survive out here! They immediately called for a helicopter to airlift us out, then we were on our way back home to san antonio to live normal lives.

Amy Casey "Fences"

This painting to me is a reflection of our gradually changing, twisting and contorting world. The coiling roads and represent how we are always so sure we are on the right path until something comes along and changes our course. Then we will bow-down to that idea as if it is complete truth neglecting what we once thought of as truth. If only we would look at history and realize that we can never be so sure of where we are going, what we are believing or that what we are doing is right. As history shows, it is destiny that we will be proven wrong in one way or another and that we will; ultimately change.

Fear

My biggest fear is my own will to do things that give me instant but only temporary gratification. Ive never learned to really "think about the consequences" and i fear eventually it is going to be the cause of my downfall as an adult to just a lower-class peice of shit that never really worked for anything.

Ayn Rand on value

"i would give the greatest sunset in the world for one sight of new york's skyline. particularly when one can't see the details. just the shapes. the shapes and the thought that made them. the sky over new york and the will of man made visible. what other religion do we need? and then people tell me about pilgrimages to some dank pesthole in a jungle where they go to do homage to a crumbling temple, to a leering stone monster with a pot belly, created by some leprous savage. is it beauty and genius they want to see? do they seek a sense of the sublime? let them come to new york, stand on the shore of the hudson, look and kneel. when i see the city from my window--no, i don't feel how small i am--but i feel that if a war came to threaten this, i would like to throw myself into space, over the city, and protect these buildings with my body." -- Ayn Rand The Fountainhead

Unfortunately enough we do take alot of modern things for granted without realizing there monumental status in history, things like the eiffel tower and the sears tower are just a symbol of the striving will of mans heart. We are and have been for thousands of years, constantly one upping ourselves to become bigger, stronger, faster and better.

I used to think..

I used to think we served no purpose in life, that we are just random chance floating around in an unkown chaotic pool of matter but one day i realized we might just have a higher reason. Though we may be completely oblivious to our purpose, that doesnt mean we dont have one. Our purpose could be simply to wonder and pry at the fringes of understanding in search of answers.
